After a highly publicized tumultuous capital project left
Mahopac CSD with numerous indoor air quality issues and faulty
mechanical systems, the district turned to energy performance
contracting (EPC) to rectify some of the issues.
After evaluating the district’s energy cost and consumption
data to confirm they had an opportunity for an EPC, ECG Engineering,
LLC. customized an RFP for the district that would focus
the responding Energy Services Companies (ESCOs) on
the district’s specific priorities.
As a result, the proposals that were received contained
several creative approaches to correcting the problems created
during the prior bond issue. The district is now contracted
with an ESCO to receive over $10 million in facility upgrades
at no out-of-pocket cost.
